Lunch at Turger Burger

Updated: Dec 18, 2024

A Beautiful Cafe with Disappointing food

TuBu, Sector 10 Chandigarh

25/10/2024

After working for a few hours, we both decided that we were done for the day. Our mission for today was to find and eat a good burger and skip to tomorrow. Instead of looking up a place, we went to Turger Burger cause you know.... burger.

Ambience

As soon as we entered Tubu, we were greeted with a forest or whatever passes for a forest in Chandigarh. The cafe is laid out such a non traditional way that you feel like you are sitting outside in nature.

We sat outside facing the man made waterfall, feeling pretty good about our choice in cafes.

What We Ordered

To start with we ordered coffee, a Macchiato for me, and an Iced Vietnamese Mocha for Laksh.

Right after tasting it his first words were "Where is the Coffee?"

, the cocoa and the coffee flavor was not very well infused, the drink had a powdery texture and the presentation, you can decide for yourself.

A weak coffee flavored milk beverage with a suggestion of cocoa is how i would describe it.

Macchiato

I mean just look at it, this was probably the worst macchiato i have ever had. Cold, and burnt at the same time it was an assault on my senses.

The beans were burnt and way too acidic, the froth was disintegrating before i even touched it.

The barista probably poured it and forgot to send it over.

After that terrible disappointment we had high hopes for the burger we ordered, I mean it's right there in there name turger 'Burger' . We ordered the Bacon Lamb and Egg burger.

The Order reach our table 15 minutes later, somehow cold and dry (a proper mystery how they managed that). The fries were.... wrong, somehow they managed to mess fries up.

The burger bun had a stale texture, the lamb was dry and crumbly like they drained all the juices. The 'bacon' had a rubbery mouth feel. The burger, as a whole was bad and the sauce was slathered on trying to hide its inadequacies.

All in all a poor experience

Dessert

The foolish optimists we are, we ordered a hazelnut cacao croissant to rid our mouth of the horrid experience.

Dry, flakey, and just as sad as it look in the picture.

Conclusion

TuBu is a beautiful cafe with a lot of potential, but the food simply doesn't live up to the ambiance. It's a shame, really, because with a little more attention to detail, this could be a fantastic spot. As it stands, I'd recommend skipping the food and just enjoying the scenery with a mocktail or cold-drink.
